A North Dakota farmer who raised his family during the Great Depression, Fred was an legendary builder. One of his last big projects, when he was well into his 70's, was to build his own summer home on the Shaw family farm property at the end of Leffler Road.
Fred was a well-known presence at the Errington Community Farmer's Market, in the 1970's and early 1980's, coming for many years from his winter home in Desert Hot Springs, California to be part of the Erington community during the summer.
